Five axolotls appear one day through a void, their entire existence shrouded in mystery. A story chock-full of surprises, best experienced blind.

Taking place in a tank suspended upon a cosmic wonderland, five axolotls appear one day from a mysterious, thundering void. They quickly learn they are able to speak with one another, and relationships are formed. However, something is off. Each axolotl seems to possess knowledge they should not know. Foods, and people, and places and concepts...

And obsessions.

Amid conspiracies, illness', fights to the death, VR headsets, and bizarre reality switching, a figure named [RB] seems to be pulling the strings behind it all.

Features

•A mystery with over 10 hours of content. Surprises await ye' at every turn traveler!
•Press ‘S’ at various points in the story to perform the world's greatest somersault! I cannot overstate this: THE WORLD'S GREATEST SOMERSAULT! Axy worked quite hard to gain that title, you know.
•Choose carefully! There will be at least one choice in the game, maybe two choices, perhaps even fifty choices!!! But none of which will affect your playthrough whatsoever, so don't worry about them and ignore this bullet point.
•Dynamic movements bursting with personality and tweens! Each scene is handcrafted with care and love, and none look the same. The screenshots do not do it justice!
•Maybe a funny thing like a giant axolotl... or maybe an axolotl cosplaying as human? Some mildly funny or maybe even moderately funny thing might happen when intense plot beats aren't occurring! Sometimes they might even happen while they're occurring! :O
•We have an OST! It's really great! 3 people worked on it, including the author!
    • There's a Breaking Bad reference, an Umineko reference, and a Rugrats reference... Has this holy trinity ever been referenced before in one piece of media?

Surely, there are many things that can be said, but RB: Axolotl is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.

This is an emotional tale that I built with all the passion and love in my heart.

Despite its cute art style, the visual novel RB: Axolotl is intended for mature audiences only.

Hi, this game is not marked correctly for use with the Itch App, in order to do so I believe you need to assign platforms to the downloads (set them as Windows downloads)

(+1)

Thank you for letting me know! Should be fixed now. 😄

(+2)

Is there a macOS version of this game?

(+1)

Unfortunately not. 😔 I would love there to be, but the engine I use apparently has some issues when exporting to Mac, and I was never able to make it work. Apologies!

(+2)

Oh no, that's so sad :( Amo los Axolotes, pero no tengo ninguna computadora Windows

I created an account just to comment this. I'm a 19 years old girl from Argentina, english is not my native language so I hope this is understandable :)

I just finished playing this demo, and I can say it was absolutely wonderful.  It was way deeper and darker than I was expecting, although I was prepared for something like this, it really surprised me. Totally recommended~

I have never seen a better character development than Enc's and Liam's, and i'm not overestimating. The way they described their mental illnesses and pain was just shocking, it really left me thinking about it. The "end" was very emotional too, I could really feel the characters. It's been a while since I felt this way with a game. Creating this complex mentalities must have been a hard work, but let me tell you it was worth it. This is a WAY bigger thing than just a visual novel about Axolotls, and I really enjoyed it. I liked the other characters too, and the art style is great and cute, perfect to complement the story.

(I also loved Oyasumi PunPun and the Naku Koro saga, so when i read it was inspired in it I started the download without thinking) Some parts reminded me of Doki Doki literature club also, but it's a totally different concept.

I want to sincerily congratulate the creator/creators. That ending left me wanting more, and you can count with my support, never donated to a creator cause I don't have that much money, but I'll definitely try to help you ^w^

To finish the feedback with a suggestion, I would have enjoyed a couple of choices, hope the complete game to be a little more interactive, although it's not necessary.

Sorry for making it too long, or any spelling mistake haha. I'll be waiting the rest of the game!! Keep it up! :D <3

Thank you so much for your sweet comment, and I'm sorry I only just saw it now.
Honestly, reading YOUR COMMENT made me very emotional, so thank you so much for checking out my game.

I hope that the rest of the story, when it comes out, will live up to those expectations. The goal is to...ah...surprise people...so I can't say too much.

And on your feedback, yes, there will be more interactivity in the main game, and a few choices!

It's not much, but in the version I just uploaded there's a little something that's slightly interactive.

You definitely made my night, Phix! I hope you have a good rest of your day!

Thanks to you for creating such a story :D

I'll check out that version. I recommended the game to my friends, so  we are all waiting for the rest haha. Good luck! ^^

I'm going to wait until the full game is released I want the full experience  but if I hadn't no other choice I would play the demo X3

Thank you! So excited for everyone to play the full game!

I've tried playing your demo, but I get an error and it says it can't be opened as an archive. Please let me know if this gets fixed at any point! I'm interested in trying it out. Thank you!

also, by the way, there's a typo in your game screenshots. "We're supposed to b f-fun".

Hey minute! Thanks for your interest in the game.

I'm using 7zip and it seems to unzip fine, but I'm not sure if it works for other archive opening programs.

If you have any feedback in the full demo (after it hopefully works) let me know!

Hi! To anyone who's tried opening this before, it looks like the newest update has fixed this issue.

Please give it a shot if you can to support this awesome dev!

Hey, that's really cute... (and I realize it has some dark elements and is not for kids). Anyway, will the demo run on Linux by any chance? (If you used Ren'Py it will)

And are there no choices at all?

Hey, thank you so much for your interest!

It's not in Ren'Py, but rather VN maker.

There are some choices, and some different scenes will occur, but it will not affect the main story.

(+1)

Visual Novel  Maker... *sigh* I really like your concept and I might have even supported it, but I tried and I can't even get the demo to run, which isn't a surprise since VN Maker is basically strictly Windows only )-:

Yeah. They have options for other stuff, but in my experience it never works.

If it makes any difference I'm going to upload a full playthrough on my youtube channel of the demo soon after I fix some minor punctuation.
